WIS Bioinformatics Tool of the Month

Time and Place: Tuesday, May 27, 2008, 10:00-12:00 Levine building, Computer Classroom (room 101)

The open in new windowSWISS-MODEL Workspace is a web-based integrated service dedicated to protein structure homology modeling. It assists and guides the user in building protein homology models at different levels of complexity.

The purpose of this workshop is to provide you with a basic framework with how to create and validate a homology model. We will demonstrate how SWISS-MODEL Workspace and additional tools can be used to get high quality structural models. The workshop will take you through the four main steps of homology modeling: identification of structural template(s), alignment of target sequence and template structure(s), model building, and model quality evaluation.
