Bioinformatics Tool of the Month Sequencher
software for analyzing results of DNA sequencing
This Bioinformatics Tool of the Month workshop will be a tutorial introduction to using Sequencher, the leading desktop software for analyzing results of DNA sequencing. It is intended for scientists who use DNA sequencing but are new to Sequencher or have not yet used Sequencher.
We will start with basic use of Sequencher: importing data, trimming low-quality sequence, assembling and viewing contigs, editing ambiguous bases, comparing to a reference sequence, and annotating sequences. We will then cover targeted use of some Sequencher capabilities for purposes such as comparative sequencing and SNP hunting.
Experienced Sequencher users: Please let us know if you have suggestions for topics that you would like to see covered in an advanced Sequencher seminar. This TOTM session will be given by Dr. Hershel Safer from the Bioinformatics and Biological Computing Unit.
