Homology modeling refers to constructing an atomic-resolution model of the "target" protein from its amino acid sequence and an experimental three-dimensional structure of a related homologous protein (the "template").

The purpose of this workshop is to provide a basic framework with how to create a homology model.
We will demonstrate how open in new window SWISS-MODEL Workspace and additional tools can be used to get high quality structural models.

The workshop will take you through the four main steps of homology modeling:

  1. Identification of structural template(s),
  2. Alignment of target sequence and template structure(s),
  3. Model building
  4. Model quality evaluation.
